Shershaah Movie Review – Synopsis:
Shershaah movie based on the extraordinary life of Captain Vikram Batra. A war hero, martyred in Kargil War but making sure India wins the war. And a true love story that will touch your soul.
Shershaah Movie Review – Plot:
Vikram Batra who was fearless from his young days was inspired by a tv show to join Army, at 23 he gets commissioned into the Delta Company, 13th battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (13 JAK RIF) and posted to Sopore as a lieutenant. He develops cordial relations with the locals and his teammates as well.
Besides all action, there is a simple love story between Vikram and his girlfriend Dimple which started in college but has to go through rough patches as Dimple’s father refuses to accept Batra as they belong to different castes. To please her dad, Vikram decides to join Merchant Navy for a higher salary, but somehow his friend convinces him to join the Army. Though Vikram and Dimple never married formally Vikram Batra had once held Dimple Cheema’s dupatta while doing parikrama at the Nada Sahib Gurudwara and called it their marriage. The soldier had even applied sindoor to her with his own blood before he left for the Kargil war. Till today Dimple cherishes all the memories of him.
In an attempt to capture Kashmir, General Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan attacked army bases, in order to occupy mountain peaks in Kargil, post which a full-blown war started. Three weeks into the war, 13 JAK RIF is moved to active duty to relieve 2nd Rajputana Rifles (2 RAJ RIF) and tasked with recapturing Point 5140 at 17,000 feats. Batra is assigned the codename “Shershaah” and victory signal “Yeh Dil Maange More”, for radio communication. Batra leads his company and recaptures Point 5140 without causalities. Batra is promoted to Captain and nominated for Maha Vir Chakra for the brave act.
Following their impressive victory, the Army Command tasks 13 JAK RIF with capturing Point 4875, capturing which will end the war. In an attempt to do the same, he was hit but made sure soldiers capture point 4875 and India win the war.
Shershaah Movie Review – Summary:
The story is about a young boy dreaming to join the Indian Army inspired by a tv show to actually joining the Indian Army at age 23, then becoming the war hero and winning the Kargil war for India. For his bravery, Captain Vikram Batra was honored with Param Vir Chakra
