Sardar Ka Grandson Movie Review – Plot summary:

A story about a grandson Amreek Singh(Arjun Kapoor) trying to fulfill his ninety years old grandmother Sardar Kaur(Neena Gupta) last wish to visit her house situated in Lahore where she and her husband build their love.

Sardar Ka Grandson Movie Review – Analysis:

It’s an open and shut plot where we see a loving grandson begin a complicated and comic journey to move a house from Lahore to Amritsar, to fulfill his grandma’s last wish. The director Kaashvie Nair, and co-writer Ahuja Chauhan stretched the story unnecessarily and made it hard to continue watching. Though the ideation of the movie is nice but they failed to execute and bring out the true perspective of the actors. Also failed to portray an emotional connection with the audience which could come of as a heartening, cliché Bollywood movie. The story also exhibiting the political scenario of two countries India and Pakistan through humor and paronomasia.

Sardar Ka Grandson Movie Review – Performances:

Performance-wise, let’s start with the leading character the ‘grandson’ Amreek Singh aka Arjun Kapoor. Truth be told, he wasn’t effective on a basic comedy scene, dialogue delivery, or even in an emotional scene. He had given many spaces to act but he was unable to utilize the scopes. The casts of the movie are really good. Neena Gupta as grandmother and Aditi Rao Hydari did their best. It’s the writing that failed to bring their talent out. Rakul Preet Singh was nothing but just a decorating element for the movie. But on a positive note, ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’ is a typical story where, religion, egos, enmity, borders, and oceans of red tape are all finally defeated by the simple humanity of one determinate man.

Why to watch

  • A light family entertainer
