With no animation or nonsense, stories are very straight forward and are told to the point. It’s sad to discover the happenings in this modern world. Is honor bigger than humanity? Thangam

Sathar is a Muslim trans woman in love with her Hindu childhood friend Saravanan , whom she affectionately calls ‘thangam’. She is  saving money for her sex change surgery and believes that once her surgery is done, they can get married and live together as a normal couple. However, Saravanan confides in Sathar that he is in love with Sathar’s sister Sahira. Sathar was heartbroken but seeing ‘thangam’ sad, Sathar comes to terms with the harsh reality and unites Saravanan and Sahira who start seeing each other, but as the word spread and due to their religion differences things become complicated. Sathar to rescue and helps them to leave the town.

A year later, both their families reconcile and invite the couple with their new born to the village. Saravanan and Sahira were excited to reunite with Sathar but things were very different, Sathar was disowned by his family as she helped them elope. She was forced to live on the streets where she is stalked and harassed by the town’s hooligans.

On one such night, she was being chased by the hooligans and all the villagers refused to let her into their homes including her own family and was later killed by the hooligans. Saravanan and Sahira are inconsolable at the entire town’s heartlessness and the misfortune they caused Sathar.

Love Panna Uttranum

Twin sisters Aadhilakshmi and Jothilakshmi are the daughters of a feudal village lord, Veerasimman. Jothi lives in the city, while Aadhi lives in the village with her father. Veerasimman seemingly endorses inter-caste marriages for his political agenda, but deep down in his heart he doesn’t support. At this point Aadhilakshmi naively believed that her father is changed and reveals that she is in love with her driver who is from a different caste. Her father agrees for the same, she confides in Jothi and asks her to come to their village to meet them all, but Veerasimman, on the advice of Narikutty, agrees to kill Aadhi and her boyfriend to preserve the honor of their community.

Jothilakshmi arrives with her two friends Penelope and Bad Boy Bharani and get to know that Aadhi is missing. Suspecting yet another inter-caste relationship, Narikutty beats up Bharani, which forces Penelope to reveal that Jothi is in a lesbian relationship with her and Bharani is just their friend. Penelope and Bharani leaves town as they was threatened by Jothi’s father leaving Jyoti depressed. Jothi begs her father to let her go alive and that she would never come back.

Penelope and Bharani arrive that night to pick her up and surprisingly, Veerasimman does not object. On their way back to the city, Penelope calls Veerasimman and Narikutty to tell that Jothi is in fact in a relationship with Bharani and the lesbian relationship was just an act to escape.

Vaanmagal

A middle class family Sathya & Mathi living happily with their three children till then a tragedy hit them. 12 year old Ponnuthayi the youngest is kidnapped after her dance lessons and is sexually abused by a rich brat from their neighborhood, she comes back home traumatized, while Sathya wants to register complain but Mathi opposed as it will  defame their family.

Sathya is helpless as a father and struggles but gives Ponnuthayi strength to continue following her dreams. But her angst ridden brother Bharath manages to track down the perpetrator, who is his own college senior and manages to castrate the culprit to prevent him from harming any other girl.

Oor Iravu

This is a shocking story and the worst part is it’s based on a true story, Sumathi was cut off from her family a few years ago after she eloped and married a boy from a lower caste. Janakiraman, Sumathi’s father invites her and her husband after knowing she is pregnant to his village for Sumathi’s baby shower rituals, which Sumathi happily accept but Janakiraman has different intention.

On the night before the baby shower, everyone in the family except Sumathi and her parents were present, suddenly, Sumathi falls sick. Janakiraman refuses to call the doctor, it is discovered that it was he who poisoned Sumathi’s drinking water and is waiting for her and her unborn child to die.
