Maara Movie Review – Paaru’s finds her favourite childhood fairy tale painted on the walls, in a small fishing town. She sets out in search of the artist and goes on an extraordinary journey.
Maara Movie Review:
Paaru, a little girl, is entranced by a fairy tale she hears from an old lady on the train. She is so captivated, that the story stays with her over the years, even when she is all grown up.
Jump to the present day, when she is attending her relative’s wedding and the usual pressure to get married is thrown at her by her mother. Parvathy (Paaru) is not ready and is still searching for something or someone to make her life more meaningful.
Her job of being a restoration architect takes her to the villages of Kerala. As she was hunting for a house, something amazing catches her eye. The fairy tale she heard as a child is painted all across town and she follows the source and lands up at the artist’s house.
She learns more about Maara, the artist responsible for the breathtaking paintings and stays at his house where he rarely visits. She discovers a lot more about him and the need to find him builds inside her. She retraces his steps and finds herself on a beautiful journey, and also meets all the people he has helped on the way.
Maara Movie Review:
The movie has a great romantic concept but it lacks conviction. Many things seem forced and it’s hard to get a feel for the characters. The stories don’t come together as nicely as we hoped for.
Madhavan is quite charming as the benevolent artist and Shraddha Srinath plays her part well as the romantic soul with a serious case of wanderlust.
Why to watch
- Madhavan as Maara
- Travel through beautiful locations
