Bhoot Police – Synopsis:

Bhoot Police is the story about two modern Tantrik brothers Vibhooti (Saif Ali Khan) and Chiraunji Baba (Arjun Kapoor) who dupe people, in name of ridding them of spirits, but their ability come to test when they face Kichkandi (The real ghost).

Plot:

The movie opens as two tantric brothers, Vibhooti & Chiraunji Vaidya visiting a place to get rid of a ghost. Which is what they generally do for a living, duping people because of their superstition that ghosts exist. Vibhooti baba (Saif Ali Khan) the Jagat lover, is mostly into girls and loves to dupe people for their money. On the other hand, Chiraunji baba (Arjun Kapoor), inspired by his father’s legacy, wants to take some real cases and solve them. One such case lands to him when Maya (Yami Gautam) comes looking for Ullat Baba as Kichkandi returns. 27 years ago, Vibhooti and Chiraunji’s father Ullat Baba helped them get rid of the spirit, in her family tea estate.

While Vibhooti looked at it as an opportunity to earn and a paid holiday while Chiraunji was the first real case. This is why Chiraunji started investing the case and gathers information about the ghost, while doing so he met with an old acquaintance of Maya’s father who was present the last time Kichkandi appeared and discovered his father Ullat Baba captured the spirit and locked in a bottle and put it inside a dead tree.

Chiraunji went to the same place and got puzzled as Kichkandi is out again but the bottle remains untouched. Vibhooti, who doesn’t believe all this, breaks the bottle, which lets the real Kichkandi out.

While Vibhooti finds the person acting as Kichkandi and promises to help them in exchange for money, but now that the real Kichkandi is out on the loose, things didn’t go according to the plan.

Review:

Saif Ali Khan and Yami Gautam make it a one-time watch horror-comedy. The concept seems interesting of two modern Tantrik duping people in the name of ghost busting but fails to impress as a complete package. The casting could have been better, few additions were unnecessary like the character of inspector Chedilal. Overall, Bhoot police are good in parts, Yami Gautam as Kichkandi and Saif Ali Khan’s dialogue accent, one-liners, and comic timing keeps you entertained.

Why to watch

  • Saif Ali Khan as the cool Vibhooti baba
  • Yami Gautam as Kichkandi
  • Comedy in installments
  • Horror at the end
